M.A.C FACE & BODY

M.A.C. Face & Body is by far, the most consistent foundation that has been used on my skin in the last ten years.

The reason why this foundation is so universally used & loved by makeup artists is: It’s versatile, sheer in texture which means one can gradually build coverage, it’s consistency allows you literally apply it anywhere on the body, it evens out skin tone perfectly and due to the emollients in the foundation it also aids in moisture…as a result skin appears dewy.

This foundation is water-based, water-resistant and provides long-lasting, natural coverage for the face and/or body. This makeup is ideal for all skin types.

Face & Body is fantastic to use on your legs, arms and décolletage when you want to create a completely flawless and consistent hue throughout your whole body.

M.A.C is known for it’s skin colour matching capabilities and has an exceptional range of tones and colour palettes. Literally any person on this planet will be able to find a M.A.C foundation to match their skin tone.

One can use Face & Body on it’s own for a dewy finish, or you can use a big powder brush to lightly set the foundation by gently running the brush over your powder, flicking off any excess powder that is sitting on top the bristles and run the brush over your T-Zone, followed by your cheeks and other areas you want set. This will aid in the foundation lasting a little longer.

Setting your foundation is great to finish off your look but try not to over powder as this can look cakey and accentuate your fine lines.  You can opt to do this on hot or humid days or if you tend to get shiny, but use a very fine powder. If you need a little more coverage, apply a concealer on dark circles or spots before setting with powder.

Face & Body is available in both Yellow & Pink bases. I personally use C4 and C5, both are yellow-based foundations, which neutralise the pink in my skin and match to my chest. C4 in winter and C5 in summer.

Tip#1 Always have two separate foundations for Winter & Summer seasons, even if you don’t tan, your skin always changes tones slightly. Plus you should avoid using an old foundation on the most precious area on your skin, your face. Old foundations are a breeding ground for bacteria.

Tip#2 Keep your foundation AWAY FROM SUNLIGHT and preferably in the fridge if you can. It prevents it from coagulating, ageing and breeding bacteria.

Tip#3 Always match your foundation to your décolletage. Make up is designed to create a flawless look. A golden chest next to a pink-based face is not flawless. Ask the M.A.C. staff member to suggest what tone you are, also look at your foundation in the natural sunlight. This can be difficult in department stores. So perhaps ask for a tester to take home, cleanse your face, apply the makeup and then look at yourself in daylight. Department store lighting is cold and does not truly allow you to see if the tone is correct.

Tip#4 Face & Body is packaged in quite a large bottle. M.A.C. make smaller bottles you can purchase and separate the foundation. The smaller bottle allows you to carry it more conveniently in your bag; the remainder should GO IN THE FRIDGE.

M.A.C also sell pumps that you attach to your bottle to limit air from seeping into bottle, preventing bacteria to breed. This also aids in preserving the foundation and makes it easier dispense the fluid.

  1. This website is fantastic….such insider advice and said with honesty too! Much appreciated….was in the market for a new foundation, will give this one a go! Could u advise of a good concealor to go with this?? One for covering spots and one perhaps for under the eyes? Was considering the YSL touché éclat for under eyes as it’s not suppose to settle into fine lines etc but would love to hear your advice on this too. Can’t wait to read more posts, I’m thinking eyelash extensions, fake tanning and shampoos / conditioners, style products etc that you have trialled and can honestly recommend. This is great X

    • Hi there.. I am thrilled to hear that you are enjoying the site and the tips… I love giving them ;)

      So… okay concealer…

Yes the YSL is great for under the eyes, but this is not a concealer.. it’s a brightener… and highlighter as such. You ca use this on dar circles but not on spots or around the nose, or where you have redness. M.A.C have a relatively new concealer called Select MoistureCover, follow this link:

      http://www.maccosmetics.com.au/product/shaded/157/964/Select-Moisturecover/index.tmpl

You can match this to your face & body, which is a bonus! it is light in texture and designed to cover cirlcles, spots and the works… plus the stick means you don’t touch the concealer, which is great…

I have this and love it.

Bobbi brown concealers are beautiful too… but you do need a light in texture fluid one if you’re concerned about it seeping into your fine lines… so go into M.A.C and try the one i suggested… I hope this helps!!! ;) x

  2. You really make it seem so easy together with your presentation but I to find this matter to be really something which I feel I would by no means understand. It kind of feels too complex and very huge for me. I am having a look ahead for your next post, I will attempt to get the hold of it!
